601 Artspace, New York, NY

An exhibition curated by Magdalena Sawon for 601Artspace Para-Real puts together seven pairs of artists whose works—all in distinctly different ways—destabilize the notion of reality through models, illusions, fakes, virtual constructs, appropriation, dioramas, puppets, re-made objects and paranormal phenomena, staged or real.

Works Shown

Along the Roadside

2012, sculpture with electronics

The sculptures in this series present liminal spaces, areas posited to be next to the desirable landmarks of contemporary life. In Along the Roadside, a photograph of a cement factory looms behind a farm as a video imagines the road trip to get there.
